Teknia consolidates its governance model

• Javier Lazpita continues as Chairman of the Group but will devote his functions exclusively to leading the Board of Directors

• Javier Quesada de Luis, until now the Managing Director, will assume all executive responsibilities as CEO

• This change will allow Teknia to give more relevance to the Group’s governance and to professionalize the Board of Directors

Elorrio, March 7^th 2024 – Teknia, the Spanish multinational specialising in the manufacture of metal and plastic components for mobility, is taking a further step in the professionalisation of its Board of Directors with the aim of reinforcing its governance model. Its President, Javier Lazpita, is stepping down from his executive functions to focus on the chairmanship of the company’s Board of Directors.

The executive responsibilities held by Javier Lazpita are transferred to Javier Quesada de Luis, until now the Group’s Managing Director, who has been appointed by the Board of Directors as Teknia’s new CEO. These functions include the area of M&A (mergers and acquisitions), a competence of great relevance for the growth of the Group, which will be integrated into the Strategy department.

In this way, Javier Lazpita will continue his duties as President of the Board of Directors, leading the Group’s highest governing body and in charge of defining and improving Teknia’s governance. In addition to the President and Javier Quesada de Luis, as representative of the family that owns 100% of Teknia’s shares, the configuration of the Board is completed with José Jainaga, Chairman of Sidenor, and Íñigo Marco-Gardoqui, partner of Alantra Wealth Management, as independent members.

Javier Lazpita has been linked to Teknia since its beginnings. He is the son of the former CEO and partner of Elix Industries, the company that Javier Quesada Suescun bought in 1992 and it was the seed which grew into what Teknia is now. From that moment on, he became one of the Quesada family’s most trusted people and held different positions in the company, starting as head of the Plastics Division.

Javier Quesada de Luis’ career has been linked to Teknia from the beginning. Since 2007, he has worked on the international expansion of the company founded by his father, achieving different milestones such as the opening of sales offices in Germany and the United States, which are key for the group today. After his experience outside Spain, he was Commercial Director until he was appointed Managing Director in March 2022.

In a letter sent to Teknia’s management team, Javier Lazpita said: “I am convinced that this change will serve to continue raising the level of professionalism in the management of Teknia and continue on the path of growth, both in size and profitability, with Javier Quesada de Luis at the head of the management team and all executive functions, once he has proven his worth in the two years he has been at the helm of the group’s general management”.
